Regulation
The viola competition will be held from 29 November to 1 December 2019 in “Melina Merkouri” Hall of Thessaloniki State Conservatory.
At the competition can take part students born or studying in countries of the Balkan Peninsula and more specifically in Greece, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia Turkey, and Cyprus.
The viola contest will be held in two categories:
Category A:
All those who were born in 2004 and later are eligible to participate.
Category B:
All those born in the year 2000 and later are eligible to participate.
The competition will only take place if at least six entries in each category are completed, while the maximum number of participants in each category is set at fifteen (priority will be met according to the date of the application).
The Thessaloniki State Conservatory can arrange an accompanying (correpetition) pianist if this is requested by the contestant for a charge of 50 euros for a half-hour rehearsal and appearance in the competition.
Participants will be notified 10 days after the closing date for applications to confirm their participation and details of the program.
The Thessaloniki State Conservatory has exclusive copyright throughout the competition, as well as any recording, video recording or photography. There are no financial rights for any candidate in the case of video recording or recording of the Competition.

Required documents:
- Application completed and signed.
- Photocopy of a passport or birth certificate proving the competitor's age.
- Photograph in good resolution.
- Evidence of a deposit of € 50 (on the "Viola Contest") as a participation fee:

The closing date for applications is Friday 18 October 2019.
Alternatively, payment can be made at the Secretariat of Thessaloniki State Conservatory.
In case of non-participation of the competitor the participation fee is not refundable.

Alternatively, they can be submitted to the Secretariat of the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, tel. (+30) 2316009657 or sent by post to the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, 15 Frangon St., 54625, Thessaloniki (for the Violas Contest), until Friday 18 October 2019 (postmark).

- • Casadesus, Henri - Concerto in b minor "Händel"
- • Casadesus, Henri - Concerto in c Minor "J. Chr. Bach"
- • Hoffmeister, Anton - Concerto for viola in D major,
- • Schubert, Joseph - Concerto in C Major
- • Stamitz, Carl - Concerto in D major Op.1
All works must be played by heart.
The order of appearance of the works is at the competitor's choice.

2nd prize and 150 euros

Category B:
1st prize and 350 euros
2nd prize and 250 euros
3rd prize and 150 euros
The awards are indivisible.
The committee has the right not to award any prize.
The committee has the right to award prizes to non-awarded contestants.
Participation certificates will be issued to all participants.
